
General Manager
Dean Bestwick is General Manager for Mack Trucks Australia. He began his career with Mack in 2000 and served in several sales and managerial roles before receiving his current appointment. Prior to joining the Mack Trucks team, Dean was the owner/manager of a private transport company. He brings to the business first-hand knowledge of the business requirements and demands on transport operators. Dean is a member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics of Australia (CILTA) and joined the executive team in September 2005.
Chief Financial Officer
Chief Financial Officer, Tom Conlon, has more than 27 years experience in the transport industry. Tom has extensive experience in finance and business control, marketing, dealer development, forecasting, distribution and retail operations. Before his appointment to Chief Financial Officer in 2005, Tom was the Project Manager for the Volvo and Mack integration project in Australia. Tom has a Bachelor of Business in Accounting and Marketing and a Diploma in Accounting and Business Management.
National Marketing and Communications Manager
Mark Hughes was appointed Volvo Commercial Vehicle Australia’s National Marketing and Communications Manager in mid 2007. Mark is responsible for marketing and brand management for Mack Trucks, including advertising, event management, sponsorships, sales promotions, and merchandise. Mark joined the company after performing in a similar key role with Napier & Blakeley Pty Ltd and has developed a career in specialist marketing and sales expertise from both Australia and the United Kingdom. Mark has a Bachelor of Business (Hons) from the University of Portsmouth UK.
Manager Product Management and Promotion
Gary Richards is Manager for the Product Management and Promotion department, a dual brand position he has held for 2 years. Born into a transport family, Gary began his professional career in 1979 in a test and development role for International Harvester before joining Caterpillar to promote their truck engine range. Gary commenced his employment with Mack in February 1993 serving as National Marketing Manager. During his 15 year career with Mack, Gary has held a number of management positions and was fundamental in the re-engineering and re-emergence of the Mack range in the mid 90's and again with the New Breed of Macks launched in 2008. Manager Human Resources
Kathy Sutherland is Manager Human Resources and began her career with Mack in 1988. Kathy has held a number of management and supportive roles within the company, including Executive Assistant to the Human Resources Manager, Financial Controller, IT Manager and Human Resources Services Manager. Kathy served as Human Resources Assistant for Amoco in Canada for five years before joining Mack and is a member of the Australian Human Resources Institute. Kathy was appointed to her current position in 2005. Kathy has an Advanced Diploma Human Resources - AHRI Diploma of Business – from Frontline Management.
General Manager Retail Operations
Wayne Wallace is General Manager of Retail Operations with more than 20 years experience in the transport industry. Wayne began his career as a diesel mechanic before joining Mack in 1988 as a technician. During his career with Mack, Wayne has held a number of senior service positions including Brisbane Branch Manager and National Service Manager. Wayne was appointed General Manager Retail Operations in June 2005. Wayne has a Certificate in Business Planning Practices from the AIM Management Development Program.
