Scorching temperatures did nothing to burn out the enthusiasm of Mack customers at the Darwin launch staged on December 2nd. What has been described as the hottest night ever recorded by the region played host to the polished event, attracting more than 100 VIP guests.
Guests travelled from across the Top End to take part in what has been touted as one of the largest and most significant events ever to grace the outback’s transport calendar.
Held inside a hanger built as part of the Aviation Museum situated on the Stuart Highway, the venue personified engineering feats of modern man. And our line up of latest technology Mack trucks showcased transport advancement at its finest.
Guests began arriving from 7pm dressed to impress. The feeling in the air was electric with people eager to catch a glimpse of the New Breed. The crowd was wowed and entertained by what can only be described as a spectacular production with four of the New Breed trucks the stars of the show.
After making their grand entrance the trucks took centre stage and remained the focal point of the evening as customers inspected the new interiors, all the white admiring the bold blue paint work. All comments made by members of a highly impressed crowd.
Adelaide really is the perfect venue for all types of activities – big or small and it certainly lived up to its reputation as it hosted the sixth official stop for the New Breed Cavalcade.
More than 220 guests were invited to take part in the Adelaide launch held on 27th November 2007. To take advantage of the intrigue and excitement that surrounds the New Breed it was decided to host a “Mystery Location” event.
Guests were asked to gather at Central Station for a 7pm departure aboard a train… destination unknown. After a half hour journey the VIP crowd were delivered to Port Adelaide, home to the National Railway Museum.
The rustic venue is Australia’s largest railway museum with over 100 exhibits. Visitors are invited to climb into the cabs of giant steam engines and walk through elegant carriages. The historical backdrop proved a big hit with guests and offered a strong contrast to the bold new transportation options of today.
Some of the elegance and WOW factors enjoyed at the Melbourne event were replicated at Adelaide. The much loved Bulldog duo made a guest appearance. Wilber Wild also made a return as the main entertainment for the night.
The New Breed were revealed in spectacular style amidst a pyrotechnic display full of colour and sound. The trucks rolled through a smoky haze only metres from the crowd, emphasising their sheer size. The night continued until midnight with fine dining and plenty of dancing enjoyed by everyone.
The following day was reserved for the traditional Drive experience hosted at the International Raceway 25km north of Adelaide. Two customer sessions saw approximately 100 people gather at the track.
The Adelaide event was undoubtedly a success with Darryl Smith, Dealer Principal for South Central Trucks returning to the office to find a mass of congratulatory emails sent by impressed customers.
The trip from Melbourne to Perth was one of the busiest legs yet of the cavalcade and firmly cemented the New Breed as a hot topic both inside and outside the transport industry.
At every fuel stop along the way the trucks were swarmed by people taking photos and by truck drivers eager to look inside the latest generation Bulldogs.
Mack gladly granted one special wish made by the local Bambara Primary School in Perth and stopped by for the afternoon prior to the launch event.
Amazed by the sheer size of the trucks, more than 35 kids from Years 1 to 7 rushed to the front of the school to see the big rigs up close. In awe of the New Breed the children had a great time climbing through the cabs of the Titan and Trident.
“The best event ever staged in Perth,” was how one ecstatic customer chose to describe the recent launch of the New Breed range held in Western Australia on 20th November 2007.
Chosen because of its ability to raise adrenalin levels, the unforgettable Perth event was held at Fremantle Prison. The infamous location is one of Western Australia’s premier heritage sites and has a history that is guaranteed to get hearts racing.
More than 250 guests arrived at Fremantle Prison and were treated to eerie moonlit tours during pre dinner drinks. To further build on the theme, two police officers acted as hosts for the evening with guests taken to view the gallows and cells. Numerous attendees commented on the rush of excitement and fright they were left feeling. Everyone agreed this was “good fun” and a great way to start the night.
The crowd’s raised adrenalin levels were put to good use with the gala reveal leaving the group speechless. The New Breed made a strong impact on guests who couldn’t wait for their chance to drive the trucks.
Their opportunity came the next day at AHG Driver Training Centre. The drive day attracted more than 50 people with each of the four models proving to be equally as popular.
The comments from customers about the New Breed were captured on video with a film crew there for the day. As customers stepped from the cab, we asked them to share their thoughts on the new range. The experiences gathered will be available for viewing online in the next couple of weeks.
The best dressed crowd in Melbourne arrived in their finery for the New Breed launch held on 14th November 2007 at The Carousel on Albert Park Lake. The grand entrance for the evening was decorated with a couple of cool characters; two Bulldogs and their minders were on show as more than 200 guests made their way into the stunning venue.
The night was themed red, black and silver to reflect the bold new visual identity of the Mack brand, another marquee of the New Breed’s significance.
Guests spent the evening being entertained by renowned saxophonist Wilber Wild and an accompanying band before the much awaited reveal of the New Breed. A massive display of fireworks left guests speechless as they viewed Mack’s new range for the first time.
Calder Park played host the following day to a customer drive day. Close to 70 people visited the track to take the New Breed for a run. What they found was a New Breed Trident with 500Hp, an all new American born and bred MP8 engine with fuel economy comparable to today, and a completely redesigned interior complete with state-of-the-art cup holders! The attention to detail was quoted as being “first class”.

Each person who took the wheel left the cab with a true Bulldog injection. Comments like, “Exceptional take off response,” and “First class comfort” were heard throughout the day. The impressive number of guests who attended the Drive Day was incredible enough, surpassed the night before with more than 100 special guests showing their support at the launch event, held at the Black Duck Café, Gateway Island. Guests were treated to an exquisite menu with live entertainment inspiring the release of much awaited New Breed. The township of Albury and surrounding communities got behind the New Breed Cavalcade with the regional New South Wales centre turning out more than 50 truck drivers and owners as part of the official Drive Day event. The impressive number of guests who attended the Drive Day was incredibly enough, surpassed the night before with more than 85 customers of the local Mack dealership showing their support at the launch event, held at the Black Duck Café, Gateway Island.
From Brisbane to Sydney, the New Breed Cavalcade is on the road! The fleet of New Breed Mack trucks are catching the eye of motorists everywhere and are a key talking point on the two-way. Pulling into Darling Harbour for the launch event staged on Monday 5th November 2007 was akin to a scene from a movie. With city and water views forming the spectacular backdrop for the launch, Sydney customers and special guests were left truly amazed by the reveal. Fireworks lit the sky as the trucks rolled on stage with angle grinding tap dancers topping off the entertainment.
The drive day was held at Oran Park Raceway with more than 60 customers taking part. The excitement from the launch event the previous night continued well into the next day.
The largest product redevelopment ever undertaken by Mack here in Australia was honoured in fantastic form on Wednesday 31st October 2007 with the official launch of the national New Breed Cavalcade.
A gala dinner was held at Suncorp Piazza, Southbank where more than 250 VIP guests were amongst the first to meet the new range.
What followed the next day offered customers the chance to get behind the wheel and experience the new Mack trucks first hand. The driver response was exactly what Mack wanted to hear - very positive messages reaffirming just how impressive this range is.
