Mack Trucks is leading the market with the new Bendix® Wingman® Fusion™ safety system rolling out in February. Combined with our Mack driver development, we are working hard to ensure Mack drivers are the safest drivers.

Developed in collaboration with brake specialist Knorr-Bremse, the Bendix® Wingman® Fusion™ system has successfully undergone local calibration and testing and is ready to deploy in Australia shortly as an option on the Titan, Super-Liner, Trident and Granite models.

Dean Bestwick, Vice President of Mack Trucks Australia, says the addition of the Bendix® system turns Mack trucks into market leaders for safety.

"Bendix® Wingman® Fusion™ is one of the most comprehensive and powerful driver assistance systems available on conventional trucks in Australia and NZ," he says.

"It goes without saying though, that this system will not replace an alert or skilled driver.”

That’s why Mack Trucks have developed comprehensive driver development programs. A skilled driver is the single most effective way to increase road safety and decrease running costs.

Mack Driver Development programs coach drivers in five fundamental areas:

  1. Knowing what they can and can’t influence to save fuel
  2. How to use the road and plan ahead
  3. Getting the most out of the truck’s technology
  4. The importance of being a company ambassador
  5. The very safest way to operate the truck

Drivers learn to look ahead and use the road environment to their advantage. For example, techniques like knowing when to coast and let the momentum do the work, or when to use cruise control and how to anticipate obstacles make a big difference to fuel consumption and drivers’ fatigue levels.

The results are immediate, from less fuel burned and lower emissions, to safer journeys and more importantly, happy drivers.

Mack can come to you, and develop your drivers’ skills and knowledge in your own trucks, in your own working environment.
